Fair Recruitment Guidelines
ISA Constitution Section II.A: The purpose of this association shall be to promote cultural awareness through event programming and community engagement, represent and advocate for international Aggies, and provide opportunities for members and officers to develop global leadership skills.
ISA Unbiased Position Agreement: As a student leader within the International Student Association, my actions and decisions will be connected to the image and reputation of the student organization, regardless of whether or not I am performing my officer duties during the time that an incident may occur. This Unbiased Position Agreement certifies that I have been made aware that, because of my ties to the organization, I cannot make any connection between my personal views and opinions and the organization.
The ISA is open in membership and officer recruiting, and is not exempt by state or federal law; these guidelines are an extra step to ensure ISA recruiting is open and fair. The ISA and its team of officers and advisors must follow these guidelines.
The personal information we collect from applicants includes:
- Your full name
- University Identification Number (UIN)
- Major
- Texas A&M Email
- Expected Graduation Year
- Other organizations involved during the next academic year
This information lies in the General Information section and can only be used to verify your eligibility for officer positions under Student Rule 41.2. Reviewers will not be able to see this information, so they are not part of our decision-making process. It is assumed that applicants have a GPA of 3.0 or greater to apply for an officer position. We do not collect applicants’ GPAs.
The information collected in the General Information Section also serves the purpose of:
- Reaching out to the applicants about the decision
- Analyze the application pool of the recruiting period. The information cannot be traced back to one applicant. (For example, we may analyze how many applicants were in their first year when they applied to improve future recruitments.)
If the information provided in the answers to the Application Questions section reveals the applicant’s demographic information, such as gender, race, ethnicity, religion, and other protected characteristics, it may be rephrased or removed before being sent for review. It is advised that applicants not reveal their demographic information and be mindful of how rephrasing can affect their application.
