A Word from the President

A Word from the President:

Football: the final frontier

Howdy, Ags!
I hope your first week of classes have gone well! This year is ISA’s 50th anniversary! Whoop! Last Friday night (8/30), we had our kick-off event in the Rec center to celebrate our anniversary. We were glad to have our University President Micheal K. Young, the Vice Provost and Chief International Officer Dr. Michael K. Benedik, the Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Daniel J. Pugh, and Director of International Student Services Bill Taylor to give us warm welcome remarks. And, we had awesome performance provided Ballet Folklorico Celestial, Freestyle Underground Street Dancers, Traditions Council, TAMU Ballroom, and more. I hope you enjoyed our celebration party and loved our fabulous cake.

If you did not get a chance to participate in our first event, don’t worry, we will have a series of programs celebrating our 50th anniversary throughout the year. We are going to have our History/Art Exhibit during November, and expand our spring signature program — I-Week, which includes events such as I-Show, I-Dinner, I-Exhibit, I-History, and I-Henna. I-Week has a long history, where it has been held each spring for the past 40 years. Happy 40th anniversary to I-Week!

Moreover, we are also going to have awards and recognitions to spotlight outstanding international Aggies during the spring semester. And, we hope to organize an ISA reunion/international student workshop, which is expected to be in late spring or early summer of 2020.

Last but not least, we will have a whole academic year of partnership programs in which ISA will collaborate with all nation clubs and culture groups to highlight various regions of the world. In the meanwhile, we also have several exciting regular events taking place this semester, including Game Night on 9/6, International Dance Night on 10/4, and Global Tailgate on 11/2. So be sure to stop by our events and follow us on social media.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us at isa.aggies@gmail.com. I genuinely look forward to seeing you at all the events!

Thanks and Gig’ Em!
Elisa Tseng, ISA President
